Handmade pupusas, comfort-food platos and Salvadoran café favorites, served fast and fresh in Mission Hills.
Izote Salvadoran Kitchen opens in the same Mission Hills location on Lassen Street that neighbors have loved for years as Mestizo, a family-owned Salvadoran spot serving the San Fernando Valley since 1999. Under new ownership, we are keeping the home-cooked spirit and bringing a bolder, brighter look and a fast-casual way to enjoy it.
Our name comes from the izote, the flower of El Salvador. It grows tall, blooms cream-white and is even cooked into traditional dishes. It stands for resilience, home and a warm welcome.
